Holistic Series: A Practical Guide to Creating Mystical Bathroom Products

I do not know a single soul who loves to clean their bathrooms. If you do I applaud you! I myself hate the chore and occasionally try to pass it off to my husband (it fails every time lol.) The point is my skin always hates me after using extremely harsh chemicals and I always end up having to do skincare afterwards every time. Ladies, Gents, and Gems I present the holistic way!

The worst chemicals you will encounter in these recipes are borax and baking soda. These are way less harsh on the skin than bleach and other products like it. So please join me below to learn how to make some products!

Toilet Cleaner

  • Use borax and white vinegar and combine in a bowl slowly till it forms a paste. Then take this paste and spread it on the toilet bowl. Leave it for a couple of hours, then scrub it off with a brush or any scrubber you have on hand.

Anti-Bacterial Spray

  • 1 pint water

  • 10 drops lavender essential oil

  • 10 drops tea tree essential oil

Pour the water into a labeled anti-bac cleaner spray bottle. Then add the essential oils and shake. You can use this on surface to kill bacteria-just spray it on and wipe it off. It can also break down mold and mildew.

Scouring Powder

  • 1 ounce baking soda

  • 1 ounce borax

  • 1 ounce salt

Mix this together in a bowl and store in an air-tight container before use. You can use it like any other traditional store bought scouring powder.

Also this is really great for getting stuff out of grout with a toothbrush! I have a really cheap toothbrush I use to clean the grout around my bathtub. It also doesn't have too bad of a smell.

Bath Cleaner for Enamel and Porcelain

  • 1 lemon

  • Coarse Salt

  1. Halve the lemon.

  2. Get the bath tub wet and sprinkle the salt all around it.

  3. Scrub the tub with the lemon making sure to pick up a lot of the salt.

  4. Rinse the tub and wipe dry with a towel.

*You can use lime or grapefruit but lemon is the most effective!

*Also if your bathtub is very stained you can use borax instead of salt. You should make sure to wear gloves if you use the borax as you will be touching the borax for a long period of time.
